FAQ

How does IV hydration work?

IV therapy is a method by way that nutrients are delivered throughout the body. Nutrients can also be delivered though out the body by way of which we consume as well. However, the nutrients we consume is not absorbed 100% by the body. IV hydration allows nutrients to be delivered directly into the bloodstream and absorbed 100% by the body. Here’s the science

What should I expect?
IV drip- there are 3 main components to IV hydration: 250/500ml bag of fluids, tubing and an IV catheter. The clinician will perform general hand hygiene, cleanse the area of insertion with an alcohol pad and a small needle will be inserted into the skin. After securing the catheter, tubing will be connected to the bag of fluids and the catheter. An appropriate rate of infusion will be selected and the infusion will last about 30 minutes to an hour from start to finish.

IV push?
With an IV push a small volume of fluid is drawn up in a syringe. While you are receiving a drip the fluid from the syringe is pushed into the IV line. There is no needle involved.

IV shot?
An intramuscular injection is a technique used to deliver a medication deep into the muscles with a small needle. The clinician will perform general hand hygiene, cleanse the area of insertion with an alcohol pad and a small needle will be inserted into the muscle, typically your upper arm. A dressing will be applied after the shot is given. This process can be done under 1 minute.

When will I feel the results of my infusion?
Results of your infusion or shot depends on why you are undergoing IV therapy. In some cases, you may feel the effects almost immediately. In other cases, it may take more time, typically a few hours. The effects can last for days after completing the procedure, depending on a number of different factors, such as the severity of your health and recovery.
